Hiking, camping and 4WD in the Mojave Desert, Death Valley and Eastern Sierra

These days I'm driving a Toyota FJ Cruiser on desert dirt roads instead of the 10-ton bicycle of all those years past–and then hiking from there. Things change!

I park at the Emma Lake trailhead, back in the forest at the entrance to the Hoover Wilderness

There's only one other vehicle parked here right now.
